Social Services

SOCIAL SERVICES

Every Local Authority has a legal duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children within their area.

Social Services become involved with your children if they are concerned about their welfare

Sometimes you may disagree with what Social Services are doing and we can help you with that. We cover Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster and throughout South Yorkshire.

As solicitors dealing with social service cases, we can advise you regarding Social Services responsibilities and the role of the Social Worker so you will be able to take advantage of the services that Social Services may offer your family.

You may be entitled to Legal Aid which means we can help you for free.

ISSUES OF CONCERN/PLO MEETING WITH SOCIAL SERVICES

Sometimes Social Services ask you to come to a case conference or meeting and ask that you bring a solicitor to this meeting with you. This meeting is called either an Issues of Concern Meeting or a PLO meeting.

You will receive a letter from Social Services asking you to come to this meeting with your own solicitor. We can come to these legal meetings with social services and advise you throughout this process

If you are a parent or have parental responsibility for the children then you will get legal aid and so it will not cost you anything for us to help you.
